Another eXperiment by Women Film Festival
(AXW for short) gives women’s work a Real Time and Space in New York City!
The NYC shows have received glowing positive comments from audiences who have remarked that these are distinctive screening experiences. So for those of you who cannot come to New York, the AXW Festivals are being provided to you online, at any time.
AXW/online expands “Real Time and Space” globally with On-Demand Streaming of films for a limited period of time, for personal home use, on computers, TVs, tablets, entertainment centers, and other devices. Every participating filmmaker receives a royalty payment each time a Show which includes their work is purchased for viewing. This Festival presentation, all in one place, makes “searching” for experimental work via the Internet easy!
AXW/online presents the short film as its own art form. In our selected short shows of shorts, each selected film is chosen and placed in sequence to form a connective link to the following film, defining an underlying quality that exists between them all. Each show is different, with its own individual character. The films in each cluster buzz in conversation with one another.
The experimental films selected by AXW/online present forms not homogenized into the realm sanctioned by commercial production. Multiple and concentrated viewings reveal greater depths in each film, as wider connections are found thru each show’s particular curation.
The AXW/online web site places experimental films onto a global platform, so that the work can be seen outside of the range of a brick-and-mortar venue. The films archived here present women’s free expression, their responses to issues they deem important, and counter the long-held concept that experimental films can be dismissed or forgotten.
Another eXperiment by Women Film Festival continues to present works in a live cinematic setting.

Today we are publicly starting the crowdfunding campaign for the documentary Paradeiros (Whereabouts. The film portrays the reality of forced disappearances in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) through two perspectives: that of the domestic worker Sandra searching for her missing son Leandro; and that of state agents who deal with the many disappearance cases that arrive at police stations every day, in a city largely occupied by armed groups. ![]()

If you donate from the US, be aware of some bureaucratic tasks that a kickstarter there wouldn't ask for, like filling in an Identification Number (it can be your state I.D., no need to fill your Security Number), and also address. In the address field you can file the District field as n/a.![]()
