– One Mississippi; (2009); Music: I Will be Done by Amigo Male Singers; D.P: Ben Jones; 16mm; TRT: 5:05 is in Show 10 Pesky Thoughts
A psycho-narrative of four girls playing skipping rhymes in a barren field with a lonesome Scarecrow.
REBECCA TIERNAN is Irish American, grown up between the States and England and has a lot of love for experimental film, video art and theatre
She is interested in the indistinguishable nature of filming and dreaming, Rebecca’s work seeks to relate these processes into one of the same field or art form.
One Mississippi was made in her late teens. This film displays the connection between the passive yet churchly character of observing moving images, along with showing the childlike and playful search that we adopt in order to discover the meaning behind them.
This work came about from missing the United States after living in the UK for a few years. She wanted to make something genuinely American in a foreign country as a way to meld my longing for ‘home’ into something creative, which tied into my love for film.
